New Canadian immigration caps to reduce backlogs and improve wait times

Effective July 1st 2011, CIC will further cap new applications to the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Immigrant Investor and Federal Entrepreneur programs.

Implications on the Federal Investor Program
Citizenship and Immigration Canada is still receiving a large volume of applications creating a considerable processing backlog. To improve wait times and reduce such backlogs, CIC will impose a cap of 700 new Federal Investor Applications. The changes will not affect the number of permanent residence admissions for 2011 and will not affect the federal part of the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program.

Application forms will have to be submitted to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia instead of current visa offices, where complete files will be verified and then send to each mission. Please note that files sent to current offices after July 1st will be returned.

New address for applications after July 1st, 2011:

Citizenship and Immigration IIP
Centralized Intake Office
PO Box 8888
Sydney, Nova Scotia B1P 0C9

Courrier address:

The updated Schedule 6 and Check List, are available on the CIC and our websites.

In addition, the Federal Entrepreneur program will be imposed with a moratorium, also effective July 1st, 2011.
