Arton Capital to host panel on Mobility and the Power of Passports at the 2019 Concordia Annual Summit in New York, with Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis, and the Hon. Hashim Thaçi, President of Kosovo.
The 2019 Concordia Annual Summit, held in New York on September 22 to 24th, will feature distinguished speakers, including Her Majesty Rani al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne; Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis, Dr Timothy Harris; José Manuel Barroso, Former President of the European Commission and non-executive Chairman of Goldman Sachs International; and Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, United Nations, among others.
Armand Arton, the President of Arton Capital, will join the list of esteemed guests. Both a visionary entrepreneur and a devoted philanthropist, Arton brings his mission to life as the Founder of the Global Citizen Forum, a platform which promotes global citizenship as a way of life and works to unlock the power and potential of human mobility and migration. He is also the co-Founder of the Passport Index, a real-time interactive online tool to rank the strength of a country’s passport. As a passionate speaker and global citizen, he has equally ensured his presence at many other global dialogues, such as The World Economic Forum, Crans Montana, and TEDx.
As partners of the 2019 Concordia Annual Summit, happening concurrently on UNGA week, Armand Arton will moderate a panel on Mobility and the Power of a Passport, joined by the Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis, and the Hon. Hashim Thaçi, President of Kosovo.
Among other things, the panel will discuss the transformation of the passport from a travel document to a powerful policy and economic tool; the positive correlation between the high mobility ranking of a passport and the economic development of the country it is representing; the economic progression a country is experiencing when a passport’s mobility ranking increases; and to what extent these developments have been acknowledged by governments, and the various strategies each is implementing in this regard.
“Many of us take our passports for granted,” says Armand Arton. “But for many people around the world, where they are born severely limits where they can travel. Endless visa queues are a handicap to business and pleasure. Because of globalization, it is now desirable, even essential, that a country’s passport allows its citizens to travel with ease.”
The Concordia Annual Summit is one of our era’s most innovative global forums, during which today’s leading minds debate pressing global issues; from the rise of populism and the urgent need to engage the political middle, to the outlook for global development. As a Canadian-based financial advisory, Arton Capital has always highly regarded the company’s involvement in such international policy forums and has actively participated in these critical discussions throughout the years.
“We started Concordia with this idea that the biggest problems of our time are too difficult for any one group to solve. Partnerships are required for facing these most difficult global challenges, and helping those who need it most,” said Matthew A. Swift, the Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO of Concordia.
