Bulgaria: A Place to Call Home

Bulgaria: A Place to Call Home

Bulgaria offers a diverse and culturally rich lifestyle to investors and their families for generations to come. Whether it’s the unrestricted right to live, work, and study anywhere in Europe, the right to own land in any EU country, or an increased freedom of mobility, Bulgaria’s Investor Program for Residence and Citizenship has allowed more and more investors to indulge in the many opportunities the nation offers first hand.

To qualify for residency or citizenship, applicants must fulfill the required investment option in addition to meeting several other standard criteria, though this does not come as a burden to the applicants, as their visits to Bulgaria offer numerous benefits and discoveries within.

It is important to note, however, certain modifications that have been made to this said criteria, as follows:

  • family members who are holding the PR status are obliged to travel to Bulgaria at least once every 12 months once the main applicant (the investor) becomes Bulgarian citizen to maintain their status until they become eligible to file their personal citizenship applications;
  • all PR holders who have turned 5 years of PR (including main applicants and family members) and have not applied for citizenship must travel to Bulgaria once every 12 months to maintain their PR status until they apply for citizenship.

Many promising projects and rising industries are changing the face of Bulgaria. From increased tourism in the country with Plovdiv being chosen as the 2019 Cultural Capital of Europe, to massive research and development centres being built for autonomous vehicles, it is without doubt that Bulgaria’s contingency for establishment and rapid economic growth make it an ideal place to harbour a bright future.

This thousand-year-old city is a perfect illustration of the cultural mixing that Bulgaria has witnessed throughout its long history. From a crucible that goes back to Alexander the Great, Greco-Roman antiquity, Ottomans and Slavs, this diversity makes the wealth of the Bulgarian people, a wealth that transpires as much from their culture, and their gastronomy as their openness. Bulgaria has truly become, an ideal place to call home.
