Antigua and Barbuda Joins Dominica and Grenada with Visa-free Access to China

Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda will now be able to travel to China visa-free as the nations have signed a mutual visa exemption agreement.

In a significant stride towards enhancing international cooperation and development, Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China have formalized several crucial agreements during a meeting between Antiguan Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. This diplomatic initiative marks a promising chapter in the relations between the two nations, signifying a commitment to fostering collaboration on various fronts.

The standout among these agreements is the unprecedented mutual visa exemption agreement, marking a momentous development for citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. The agreement underscores not only the deepening of ties between Antigua and Barbuda and China but also signifies a progressive approach to facilitating travel and promoting people-to-people connections. Moreover, the newly signed agreements go beyond bilateral interests, addressing critical global issues such as climate change as well.

For citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, the visa exemption agreement holds immense significance. According to Arton Capital’s Passport Index, the Antiguan passport already commands an impressive world reach score of 71% and a passport power rank of 24, placing it amongst the top 30 strongest passports in the world. With the inclusion of China in the list of visa-exempt countries, Antiguan citizens will now be able to travel to nearly 100 countries without the need for a visa, improving the passport’s mobility score to 143 countries. In comparison, the Chinese passport features a mobility score of 94 countries and a world reach score of 47%.
