MICC update: Continue treatment of Iranian files

Written by Arton Capital - Wednesday, 25 January 2012 05:31

Following Citizenship and Immigration Canada's release of Operational Bulletin 378, MICC has also issued a directive instructing agencies to continue treatment of Iranian files as per standard procedure.

Due to the recent economic sanctions, financial transactions with Iranian financial institutions are restricted, therefore clients may have to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a permit in order to be able to make the required investment for the Immigrant Investor Program.

Arton Capital continues to review and submit Iranian files for the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program. For more information, please contact your Relationship Manager.

Excerpt:

Persons affected by the sanctions on financial transactions, whether they are applicants for a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ), a visa or already in Québec, may apply for permits from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) that authorize specified activities or transactions that are otherwise prohibited under the sanctions. Exemptions to the sanctions can be found in section 5(d) of the amended Regulations.

Please note that the issue of such authorizations is in no way handled by the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles: no guaranty is given that such an authorization will be issued to you. Even so, if you must obtain such a permit to meet a requirement to obtain your CSQ, you should warn the Ministry so it may take these steps into consideration while tracking your requirement.
